Student Expectations of a Library (Turner Elementary School)
I am the Media Specialist at J.E. Turner Elementary School. At the start of the school year, I asked my third through fifth grade students to list many, varied, unusual expectations of a library. Among listing books and technology in the discussions, students agreed that comfortable furniture is an expectation. After the lessons with the students, I reflected and glanced around the library and looked at how I can meet the many expectations of my students, including comfortable seating to read and learn. My current tables and chairs are bulky and uncomfortable for my youngest to my oldest of students. I would like the opportunity to meet my students expectations, but I cannot do it alone. I need five tables that offer flexible seating, along with chairs to meet the height of the table. I would also love to provide my students with flexible seating options in the causal reading/maker space area of the library. Please consider donating to this project so that my students can have a library that they expect in their learning environment.
