Walt Disney World Educational Field Trip for Gifted Students (Child Development Center)
I am writing to respectfully request support for our gifted students in grades 3-8 from Cullman County Schools, to visit Walt Disney World in January of 2020. A Walt Disney World field trip is a great way to bring science to life for students. Students can experience guided, in-park educational field studies that are standards based. This hands-on science cannot be accessed during the school day due to lack of resources or time. These exceptional experiences will improve student performance on standardized tests and keep students engaged in science. These gifted students are essential to creating a skilled science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) workforce in the future. Our schools have limited time to teach STEM subjects and limited resources for equipment and supplies. Our schools serve many low income students. All of the elementary schools in Cullman County are Title I schools which means low-income families make up at least 40 percent of enrollment. These students may never have a chance to visit Walt Disney World with their families due to financial or transportation limitations. Your support will be divided equally among all of the gifted students who have registered to go on the field trip. These contributions will help provide access to four days filled with many unique experiences, including two hands-on, inquiry-based workshops that will inspire creativity and increase student knowledge about science. This experience is invaluable, and will lead to future participation in STEM subjects.
